钢球磨斑的测量是利用我司专门研制的磨斑测量系统来完成的，测量精度为0.01mm，通过底部安装台的特殊设计，能在不取出钢球的情况下，对油盒中三个钢球的磨斑进行测量、测量时先将油盒放置在显微镜座上，使钢球对准显微镜的物镜，再转动调焦手轮，求得清晰的磨斑。旋转油盒，用同样的方案依次测量出另外两钢球的平均磨斑直径。三钢球平均磨斑直径的算术平均值即为本次实验的平均磨斑直径。

一般情况下，对于同一磨斑，在PB点之前，磨斑读测数据，横向大于或等于纵向，在PB点之后，磨斑读测数据，纵向大于或等于横向，均属正常。
